Student Producers

To move students from being consumers to producers, we, as teachers need to encourage higher level critical thinking skills. Instead of just hand feeding students information and expecting them to understand, they need to be able to take this knowledge and apply it to real world situations. Students must be able to compare and differentiate ideas and make choices or judgement on criteria and standards. Classrooms need to be student driven and as teachers we need to guide the students in developing these critical and creative thinking skills.

  1. I completely agree about higher level critical thinking skills. Students have a hard time solving problems on their own without having someone tell them exactly what to do.

  2. Hi Nick! I agree that it is so important to apply classroom material to real-world situations! That makes it easier for students to see the importance of the material and how they will use it in the future. I believe teachers should guide students in learning and exploring, as opposed to just giving them the information.

  3. I agree with what you said. Students need to understand the information taught to them to apply it to real world situations. It is only fair to the students to be able to become producers
